Great gelato owner was super nice to bad we don't live in Fort Lauderdale great coffee too

Ok this place seemed to be an amazing experience by the reviews we read but in reality this is just a cute little average ice cream place to have a nice chat and enjoy some of their creations. We tried the Milano flavor ice cream which was just a vanilla flavored ice cream with tiny bits of chocolate and then the brownie fudge chocolate ice cream which was really good. Very clean, nice decor and cute little terrace

Excellent service, delicious gelato! Unique flavors, including alcoholic gelato. Fun & clean. Great place to have a Family treat.

Popped into Alice's for a quick sweet bite after walking around the pier in Pompano Beach. As my wife described it, this place is "so cute!" They have it decorated uniquely with colors that pop. The place just screams "CLEAN!" and it is spotless. They have various gelato flavors in the case and they all looked great! The wife got cookies and cream (it was delicious) and I got a brownie sundae with Milano cookie gelato (AMAZING!) While I felt the price was a little high for the amount of ice cream we got, it was superior quality so I guess it was justified. Looking forward to coming and trying other flavors soon!

Sampled all the flavors of this bright, clean, comfortable and welcoming gelato location. I was impressed with the care and detail given to each delicious flavor and the attentive service. It was hard to make a choice! But I had the bananas foster and the fresh peach (which was actually made with fresh local peaches). I sampled the French vanilla, the chocolate, dark chocolate raspberry, and hazelnut. All fantastic. The hazelnut was really delicious and I would have had that one had I not just had some the day prior. The owners are very nice and friendly, conversational and engaging, they helped us with suggestions of what to do while we were town for the holiday. My 3 yr old daughter at one point dropped her dish and the owner quickly replaced it with another severing thereby averting a disaster meltdown. In one swoop he saved our family ice cream experience. And for that Alice and The Man get the elusive FIFTH STAR! We are coming back, again, and again and again!

DON'T WASTER YOUR MONEY this place is overpriced and nothing special. Might as well go down the street to Kilwin's and spend a lot less while enjoying homemade ice cream with many more taste selections than this place. And if your craving a milkshake, it will be about $7, are you kidding me?? Just not worth the high prices and small selections. Yes, they are a small business and very nice but that does not justify over charging everyone. If they were so about community they would be offering products affordable to all people and families, not just the high-enders. It's ice cream for gods sake, not caviar!

  • Manish K.

This is the kind of small business everyone should support instead spending your money at national crap chains like Baskin Robbins. the place is so clean you could eat off the floor. the service is top notch. Because the owners work in the shop they are well versed on the products they are selling. They switch up the Gelato flavors so you are constantly able to try new flavors. the gelato is of the highest quality and super addictive. Go support Alice's!!!

Super cute decor! Everything is so colorful, contemporary and clean! They make all their gelatos on site and it's served in these cute pink plastic martini glasses with a wedge of waffle. The green apple caramel was light and delicious but the burnt peanut one was my favorite. If you like peanut butter, you'll love burnt peanut gelato. Fantastic service and they let us sample different flavors before deciding. Did I mention how cute and colorful it is inside? Go check it out!

Expensive and poor service. No surprise it was empty while Kilwins had a long line. I asked for a small scoop for my kids. She asked them if they wanted a cone. They said yes and she piled on two big scoops without warning or asking me. I asked after and she said 'these are small in a cone. She should have told me first and asked if it was okay. Was not friendly and the place was not fun. I didn't know you could have a bummer ice cream experience, but now I do. The customer before me was shocked when she was charged $16 for a small to go container.

We went to this little gelato shop while on vacation. This is a fun little spot with lots of fresh gelato! We tried french vanilla and hazelnut and my personal favorite, lemon mint! Which the owner's wife made fresh that morning. It had little flecks of real green mint in it, mmm mm mmm! The owner even chatted us up about things to do while in Fort Lauderdale. Great conversation and great gelato, will return!

I was really looking forward to going to an ice cream "emporium," and sadly was let down. This place only has gelato, no hard scoop or soft serve ice cream at all. When we walked in around 7pm, the place had only one other customer. When we went up to look at the flavors, nearly all of them were empty. I tried the tiramisu and it tasted like plain vanilla. Sensing that the flavors would be mild, I went with the richest ones I could find... double chocolate and cookies and cream. More disappointment, I couldn't taste any cookies and the chocolate was meh, more of an ice milk. We had ordered a two scoop sundae ($8) with whip cream, sprinkles and hot fudge. The whip cream was reddiwhip, the sprinkles were barely there, and the hot fudge was watered down chocolate syrup. The two scoops were the tiniest scoops I had ever been served anywhere. We ate the gelato in 3 bites and walked out. Waste of calories and money :(

REALLY good gelato. SUPER friendly service. EXTREMELY misleading name. They serve zero ice cream here.

Decided to come to Alice's ice cream emporium based on the yelp reviews. We were not disappointed! We tried the strawberry zabaione, French vanilla, and hazelnut. They were all delicious! The strawberry one had a hint of marsala in it which was a nice touch. The hazelnut had a taste of peanut butter which was well flavored. They add a piece of waffle cone to each cup. Michael gave us fresh waffle cone pieces that were still warm, right out of the oven. They were amazing! Wendy was very nice and very knowledgeable about the flavors. She freshly made all these delicious ice cream flavors! They were so creamy and could tell it's homemade. It's a cute ice cream shop that ice cream shop with an Alice in wonderland theme. We will be returning to try the sandwiches and more flavors!

This place rocks! We have been here several times and their gelato is consistently fresh and delicious. Very cute space...you will not be disappointed.

Came here during my stay in Ft. Lauderdale to cool off with frozen coffees, ice creams and other good stuff on their menu... Unfortunately Alice's is not at the most convenient location. It's at a semi beat up strip mall where Alice's looks like the only open business on the strip. I'm sure this is why the place was always empty but don't judge it by its location. Everything about this place is on point. Definitely worth checkin out.

Wow! What an outstanding little gem of a place! I've driven by this place on numerous times and finally decided to go! OUTSTANDING! First off, it's a beautiful place... Really clean and frankly just cute! We were very warmly welcomed by who I now know to be one of the owners. He was so welcoming and extremely accommodating! We tried a few flavors and I decided on the cookies and cream and vanilla gelato. WOW! SO delicious! They have a small but great menu and even offer parties and small get togethers! Really neat place. I will be back! Many many times.

My boyfriend and I stopped in a Sunday night. We were immediately greeted by the owner and he showed us all the different flavors he had and had us sample some. We felt so welcomed. I love my sweets and this has to be the best gelato I have ever had. There are so many different varieties. It is all made fresh everyday and you can tell!!! I'm in love with Alice's. Whenever I need to fulfill my sweet cravings.. I'll happily drive past all the other ice cream/gelato places and make my way here.

  • Doug D.

This is absolutely the most amazing stop up and down the beach. Seafood is fresh at several restaurants, but nothing compares to the gelato and service here at Alice's. I would recommend this to any and all that venture to Ft Lauderdale/Pompano beaches. Enjoy the greatness!!

  • Brandon S.

It was tasty but i think im just a huge fan of thick creamy icecream. Here its more icy and melts fast..

  • Davy M.

This place is seriously amazing. I came the first time a few weeks ago. The owner was working and was SO nice, he insisted on letting us try every flavor. I meant to write a review after that, but forgot. I took my mother in law for her birthday tonight. It wasn't the owner but the customer service was equally as amazing. Every single flavor is homemade and delicious. You need to come here. You can have any combination you want and if you eat in they put your gelato in a martini glass. Love!

    (5)
  • MickeyBlue I.

Different decor, very friendly service from what I can only assume was the owner. Good gelato, but not the best I've had. Serving size is a bit stingy based on prices I'm not sure I'd return.

    (3)
  • Jaleesa C.

If I could, I would give this place 4.5 stars. They get a definite 5 stars for flavor. The coconut and strawberry gelatos were amazing! My husband got cookies n' cream, French vanilla and tiramisu. He said it was the best gelato he's ever had! Where they get 4 stars, for me, was just in lack of selection. I realize it's off season, nor is it a weekend, but at least 5-6 slots were empty. I was really looking forward to some pistachio gelato or some lemon sorbet but they didn't have either available when we came. Oh well, the gelato we got was still delicious and the lady at the counter was super friendly!

  • Zachary J.

Loved the Gelato hot fudge sundae! Great place to have deserts. We will be back for more. Tell everyone about this place and let's make it a hit!

  • Bruce K.

Really good gelato, but I think it's very expensive. I stopped in for a mascarpone pear caramel and it was served in a neat plastic martini glass. A single scoop and it was wonderful. But $5? That's a bit much.

    (4)
  • Dino P.

Um, i mean mmmmmmm, burnt peanut and dark chocolate gelato!! Are you kidding me!!??!! What an awesome combination. So good and creamy. And you gotta love the decor in here. What fun. It's obvious Alice enjoys what she's doing - here store definitely reflects it. To all, enjoy. Life is too short to miss Alicia's Ice Cream Emporium!

i loved this palce, owner was so friendly and nice. beautiful interior and generous servings of gelato!! the small was huge i even was able to share it. He even gave us complimentary fresh mango gelato to taste, was so delish!!!!! over all great experience, id definitely recommend this place!

  • Spencer H.

Great, local place! The manager was super friendly and so helpful! Ask about there wine flavors, because I got a taste of the Peach Bellini and could think of anything else for the rest of the night!! Delicious gelato, though!

The best place to get fresh Gelato in South Florida. The owners are very friendly and passionate about their product. Ever time I visit they have something new to try.

Amazing gelato! The owner was very friendly and personable. Really made our night. Fantastic gelato and the espresso was great as well. So impressed!

  • Dawn E.

The name makes zero sense, since it's a gelatoria. Gelotarium? Gelatorist? Boom. Uh.. They have gelato. Not ice cream. But it's super cute and they guy inside was mad accommodating when I was looking for something I little off menu. Definitely worth a pop in.

  • Dee C.

Very cool little place for exquisite gelato in awesome flavors. It is a little bit pricey so I've only been there once (we are a family of 4 and it can add up) but it is absolutely worth it for a special treat. During my visit to Alice's I had an affogato of Italian cookie gelato (I think it was called Milano?)... just the fact that the owner knew what an affogato was made my day. While we there the owner also let us try a Red Wine Gelato he makes for grownup parties, and let me tell you that my husband and I were absolutely hooked on it! The decoration for the restaurant is inspired by Alice in Wonderland so it is very whimsical and playful. All in all this is a great place for a special treat and really unique gelato flavors. Definitely worth the price.

  • Blake M.

Delicious, fresh, and a constantly changing variety! My girlfriend and I had the pleasure of meeting the owner and having a brief chat just before devouring our treats! Everything has been excellent, every visit, including the staff. Our favorite is the lemon sorbet. It literally makes my mouth water just thinking of it, especially on this beautiful summer afternoon! You will not be disappointed :D

  • Ellen C.

Cute, cheery snack emporium with ample seating for groups. Unfortunately, just very average gelato.

    (2)
  • Dominique M.

Not the best gelato $5 bucks can buy... Eeek, now the brownie very good frosting but the brownie itself was very dry. What sets this place apart from any other Gelato place is the amazing Alice in Wonderland theme. I gotta give to the owners they did a great job with decorating this place... Now the Gelato is A-OK

    (3)
  • Pauly L.

This place is the definition of " hands on" ownership! It's spotless and you literally could eat off the floor. Everything is made fresh and the flavors are exotic. The husband is the front of the store and the wife is in the kitchen making the best gelato in Florida ! They make a great couple and a successful business. Always willing to give out a taste and always making you feel comfortable and welcome. A true success story and I hope they stay here forever.

  • Edward P.

This was an awesome place and I wish I had gone for seconds! The owner greeted my girlfriend and I as soon as we walked in and began to explain the menu. He and his wife (both are owners) make all their specialty ice creams and sorbets in house; clearly these folks are pros. There were many flavors to choose from plus some delicious special mixes they offer. If you're interested in a great dessert spot, look no further!

  • Ashley H.

This place is delicious! My dad lives close by and we stopped to get some gelato to take home. I really enjoyed their Burnt Peanut gelato..which tasted like a Reeses cup! Really creamy and delicious. My dad got the tiramisu, which he's had before. It looked incredible also. This place is pretty pricy, but it makes more sense to just buy one of the large containers, get a few flavors, and take it home. You'll get 4 or so desserts out of the large container for $18 rather than paying $6 for a big cup one day. It's much more economical. I'd definitely come back again!

Peach Bellini Gelato! Peach Bellini Gelato! Stopped in after reading all the great Yelp reviews and was very kindly greeted by Wendy, who explained to me how she fell in love with the gelato in Rome and so the shop was born. I, clearly, had the peach bellini gelato, which was knock-your-socks-off good. They have kid-friendly flavors like birthday cake and chocolate, and more sophisticated flavors such as tiramisu and spicy merlot as well. I'm a fan- can't wait to stop by again the next time I'm in the area. Thanks, Wendy!

  • Elizabeth R.

This place was super cute! I didn't realize it was Alice in Wonderland until I got there. I had birthday cake and vanilla gelato with hot fudge. Everyone else I was with enjoyed theirs as well. Super clean. I came in around 9pm on a Sunday night and we were the only people there. It was lovely! I would come back.

What a fun place. Eclectic design and creative gelato flavors make this much better than your run if the mill ice cream place. This is our second visit to Ft. Lauderdale and we made sure to come back here.

    (5)
  • Melissa A.

Delicious gelato! Super fun and cute shop. They had a nice variety of flavors to choose from which vary depending on when you visit. I tried the Whiskey Caramel Vanilla. It was soooooo awesome. Nice vanilla flavor with just a hint of the whiskey taste. We will be back for sure.

  • Goran T.

Outrageously overrated and overpriced. This is soft serve ice cream masquerading as gelato. The lady working the counter was pleasant. The only review I found helpful in hindsight was that of Brian K. Please see for details..

  • Rebecca L.

Awesome gelato and some unique flavors. The strawberry and dark chocolate flavors were delectable and creamy. The raspberry black chocolate was tasty, but the texture was a little icy. Definitely recommend this place if you're looking for something of a higher standard than DQ!

In town for the day and when looking for icecream tonight, this little place popped up! What a wonderful surprise! Warmly welcomed by a gentleman behind the counter wearing a bright tee that said "I'm not Alice" and he immediately told us about how his wife makes all the icecream here. They even had alcoholic adult icecream. And the atmosphere is so comfortable and interesting and cute! Will definitely return anytime I'm in town.

Fresh Gelato and very well designed interior - everything is based off of the Alice and wonderland movie. Definitely will be back.

You have to try the burnt peanut gelato here! It is absolutely delicious. Combine it with a fruit tart pie and some tea and you're in heaven.

    (5)
  • Julia B.

The Hazelnut gelato is made with all hazelnuts so it tasted like I was eating the nut itself. Pair it with the dark chocolate gelato and you have a match made in heaven. I loved this place. Great service, Cute decor and delicious ice cream. Support this local business!

You haven't had the best homemade paninis, signature coffees & Gelato in town until you've tried Alices Ice Cream Emporium...Just try it once, and you'll be hooked I promise you! They also have FREE WIFI so you can get some work done or wish to get Facebook out of the way while having a nice relaxing lunch or early dinner...My wife and I go there for date night also, and the kids love it!

Love getting my gelato fix at Alice's! Milano Cookie so far is my favorite! I have tried a couple unique flavors like lavender, still very very good!! The lady who has served us the last couple times is always so welcoming and just so nice!! I just love stopping by Alice's when I'm in the area!!!!

This place suffers from delusions of adequacy - Alice needs to stop spending so much time with the Mad Hatter and lay off the Mercury. Aside from the fact that the place is touted as an "ice cream emporium" when they don't even sell a lick of ice cream, the offerings are exorbitantly overpriced and the staff are more indifferent than a gay man at the playboy mansion. Food: Alice's offers a selection of approximately 10 different gelato flavors at any given time, as well as coffee, shakes, pastries, and sandwiches. During my visit, I opted for a two-scoop sundae with burnt peanut gelato. Although the gelato itself was reasonably flavorful, the portion was glaringly less than two scoops, the whipped cream was flavorless, and the serving of caramel was so meager that it was virtually non-existent. Had I known that the sundae was essentially gelato and a Thumbelina-sized portion of toppings, I would have just ordered the standard two-scoop and saved the added disappointment and wasted dollars. Service: Indifferent to the point of being rude. The gentleman behind the counter did not greet us upon entry, which wouldn't have been a problem except for the fact that we were the only people in the place. He then proceeded to stand there comatose until we voluntarily offered our orders. Once the sundaes were prepared, he just set them on the counter and walked away - again, with no acknowledgement or semblance of consciousness. Given that we were the only people in the place, I was surprised that he couldn't manage to muster up the muscle strength to at least bring the desserts around the counter to us. Atmosphere: Alice's touts its decor as whimsical, and I would tend to agree. The interior itself is clean, bright, and colorfully decorated, complete with Alice in Wonderland themed wall hangings and light fixtures. There are a multitude of seating options, including low and high top tables, booths, and a counter with stools. All orders are placed and paid for at the centrally located counter. Cost: Overpriced for the quality, portion, and experience. Two standard sundaes cost in excess of $17. They even have the audacity to solicit tips - here's a tip: serve some ice cream, lower your prices, and hire an employee with a pulse. Other: Alice's is located in the strip mall with the green roof at the corner of East Commerical Blvd and Bayview Drive. Free parking is available in the lot directly outside the shop, but it's one-way and can only be accessed via East Commercial. Free WiFi is available. Hours of operation are Monday-Thursday, 10AM-10PM, Friday-Saturday, 10AM-11PM, and Sunday, 12PM-10PM.

I am so excited there is finally gelato in the area!!!! I have tried many flavors already and addicted to the Burnt Peanut!!! It's delicious! Also the owners and staff are super friendly and want you to try whatever they are mixing up and experimenting with on the spot. The Peach Bellini was superb with a subtle mix of peach and champagne (I don't really care for peach but this is definitely an exception). Someone commented on the price being expensive but I think you pay for what you get and the quality is above and beyond here. I think the price is fitting! I am already a regular lol which may not be a good thing....more trips to the gym.

  • Meagan D.

This place is wonderful! The gelato is just as good as the gelato I've had in Europe! Great flavors and they even had hazelnut which is my favorite. The owner is extremely nice, the shop is super clean and the decorating is adorable. I would definitely suggest going here!

  • Edward C.

Alices is a wonderfully quirky ice cream establishment, with flavors ranging from the comfortingly normal, like chocolate and vanilla, to the deliciously bizarre, like pineapple chili lime and burnt peanut. Every variation is made in house and with all the care that the humble owners can muster. Which is quite a bit. 5 stars out of five.

Forgive me father, for I have sinned...I have tasted the sweet temptation of an affogato, with cherry chocolate fudge gelato and...well the rest shall not be spoken, for fear of the shame I would bring upon my family. I kind of have a problem...I love ice cream, frozen yogurt, gelato and popsicles. Yea, cold and sweet stuff in my mouth is an addiction that I feed on a regular basis. So discovering this awesome little gem during my adventures in the 954 is a blessing and a curse. I'll just make up for the indulgence with some extra yoga, dance or biking, because this place is totally worth it. They also make really delicious sandwiches, and at a good price for the portion. Free wifi is a bonus for those that need to work on the road. The service is always friendly, and you can just hang out as if you were at home. I love places that feel like home away from home, and this is definitely one of them.

Nice little ice cream shop, great ice creams. It would deserve a better location . Very creamy. Had a medium tiramisu, pears mascarpone and Nutella. My favorite was the pear mascarpone. Defiantly coming back for more.

I have been wanting to try Alice's since I first saw their sign two years ago, which is I presume when they opened. For various reasons, I never stopped in until about a month ago for the first time, and then last week for the second. Let me tell you, the wait was worth it, and I will definitely become a more frequent customer. Don't let the name fool you, because it sure fooled me. This place sells GELATO, but has all the fixin's of a cute ice cream parlor. It is extremely clean and the service is impeccable. A highlight is being served gelato in a martini glass with a real spoon, and not in a small plastic cup with plastic spoon. You know what I'm talking about! Apparently, the serving size is the same, but it feels like so much more. To top it all off, all gelatos are served with a tasting of fresh waffle cone! In addition to their serving technique, there are several unique aspects to the gelato store. First, I learned on my last visit that they serve food! I was thrilled when I heard this because now I have an excuse to go there in the middle of the day and have dessert! Second, they have really unique flavors that are different from your standard shop. They did not have Straciatella the two times I was there, and I did not miss it. Oh, did I mention that they have alcohol-infused gelato. While I have not tried it, I know I will bring it as a gift to upcoming parties. It sounds so creative and so refreshing. Third, while they serve gelato, they give you all the luxuries of ice cream - you can have a sundae, cookie sandwich, banana split and more...Speaking of bananas, all of their gelatos are made in-house and you can just tell - especially with the banana-flavored gelatos. I loved Alice's and I can't wait to go back!

We were visiting town and decided to trust other Yelpers who recommended visiting this place. They have a great selection of yummy ice cream. The atmosphere is super cute with it's Alice in Wonderland theme. We visited on a weekday afternoon and were the only people in there. The staff was very friendly. It seems to me that parking would be a problem at busy times of the day. The parking lot has metered parking so we had to pay. Bring some change so you can find a parking place in the lot.

I've never been a big fan of Gelato, but after tasting THIS gelato I'm hooked!! It's amazing and fresh. I was blown away by it. I know it's on the expensive side, but what do you expect? Its made from fresh, quality ingredients that don't come cheap. If you want "cheap" Gelato, there are places around who serve it and it's not as good as this. The couple who own the place are delightful as well. What a great mom and pop store!! I believe they are pretty new, but you'd think they've been doing this for a lifetime. I Highly recommend them.

It took me a moment or two---nobody said I was very bright!--to realize that the place was decorated in a Alice In Wonderland whimsy fashion which turned it into a fun place with red plastic stemmed wine glasses for sodas, high purple chairs, booths with a different fun lamp above each and varied colored plastic martini glasses for the gelato servings at the table. The gentleman who served us, made our sandwich, dished out the gelato and brought us the brownie was a delight from the moment we stepped in the door. up to our leaving. I have no idea if he is one of the owners but he does everything but make the gelato, as he told us the women, fixing up a booth a few steps from us, was responsible for that. IF she is the owner she should have taken a second or two to at least acknowledge us. As to the food it is pretty pricy. We split a sandwich that was $7.75 and really wasn't enough for one! Though the gelato came in many flavors they cost $5.75 for a medium scoop which is really a small scoop and I don't want to see the size of the latter. I had the banana crepe which had a hint of banana while Allen had the orange which he really liked and another flavor (I forget what it was) which he said was bland. We split a brownie with chocolate sauce which was just ordinary.. I didn't see any ice cream so I suppose they put that in the name so people driving by would know it is a dessert shop. "Alice's Gelato Emporium"? It would go along with the Alice in Wonderland theme. I'm sorry I didn't get the name of the door greeter, server, cook, cashier, host, busboy but if he isn't an owner he should be one and I hope the owners know what a gem they have in him. I'm glad I tried the place but it isn't a shop I would return to--if I am going to spend close to $40 for lunch I would rather go across the street to Pomperdales Deli.

My boyfriend and I were looking for a local ice cream shop. We found Alice's on yelp & decided to give it a try. I'm very glad we did. The flavors were delicious, but that's not the only thing that makes this place a neighborhood favorite. The staff was friendly & made you feel like a regular, even if it was our first visit. I'm definitely coming back for their sorbet & wine event. How could I say no to my two favorite novelties?

So glad we have a place like this right in the neighborhood! The only thing better than the gelato and other treats is the nice couple behind the counter- I can't wait to go again!

  • meridith m.

100% satisfied that ice cream craving! And even better - it's gelato which the owner will tell you is healthier than american IC. Fresh made, the flavors are creative and seasonal. Eggnog & pecan pie - perfect for the holidays! The pecan pie tasted like actual nuts instead of that syrupy sweet flavor of typical butter pecan. So please forgo those sugary fly-by-night fro-yo joints and treat yourself to Alice's gelato!

Great gelato, the banana gelato is amazing. One of the best gellaterias I have been to.
